About Hackathon

Mission

Inspired from the Sanskrit word for "innovation", Hackathon Navikarnam 2018 is a unique event whose purpose is to broaden exposure and foster greater access to the world of computer technology for young coding enthusiasts. Founded in Chandigarh, Hackathon Navikarnam is one-of-a-kind: it aims to facilitate the development of disruptive technologies in India. This initiative acknowledges that collaboration among the brightest minds is essential to innovate, disrupt, and produce paradigm-shifting technologies. Hackathon Navikarnam aims to achieve precisely that by building a network of coders who will compete and collaborate for the greater good.

What We Do

A competition, which includes website development (HTML, etc.), App development, Programming, Animation or any other IT skill which will need basic knowledge of computers in an attempt to coordinate efforts within the coding community. We want to focus on capitalising the potential of today's youth. We are moving toward a world with highly complex problems, whose solutions cannot necessarily stem from the past; the need for novel solutions and technologies therefore can come only from a new kind of thinking. We believe that focusing on developing the talents of young minds is the way forward. To this effect, Hackathon Navikarnam is geared to bring together students between the ages of 14 and 18 years old. This gives talented and motivated high school students the ability to team up with students and encourages an increased level of sophistication with which school students can engage within the field of computer science and programming.

Why Hackathon?

Hackathons help achieve what is perhaps the most important purpose of technology: progress. Real-life problems are always the focus of such exercises. By bringing together a group of like-minded people to perform the same task--solve a problem--hackathons produce the best and the most creative ways of coming up with sustainable solutions. Thus, they keep re-inventing and reshaping the role of computer science in achieving social progress.

Hackathons have another social function: They help connect a group of committed coders giving them the ability and space to collaborate, compete, continuously raise the standards of computer programming. It is also an opportunity for corporate firms to witness the potential of rising talents in the programming community, and gain novel solutions for problems that might be relevant to their work.
